Performance, in which cooking noodles turns into a symbolic ritual – from dry crushing to a swollen substance, they become a visual and aesthetic material. Images from a microscope, analog TV and projections on the wall will merge with electronic music.

«Noodles become materials that are mundane and absurd, but also symbolic – like a reflection in a hurry, where everything is fast, eager and superficial.» says new media artist and author of the idea Lidija Zaneripa.

Digital visualizations and projections will be created by Ieva Vīksne: «Nowadays, digital images surround us from all sides, and in this performance I choose to focus on the basic element of a digital image – the pixel. Just as soup is made up of various ingredients that can change and acquire a different taste, so with an image – by changing the pixels in places, we can create a new composition. This time, the visual soup with noodles will be made up of both archival materials and contemporary cultural artifacts – memes. The images are very fluid, bubbling and constantly changing.»

The musical side is by Uģis Jansons (DJ UG UG UGG UGG), an experimental music author and sound engineer whose projects combine different genres and, as he himself says, “are like an archive of memories recorded in the bedroom and in the studios of friends”.

The event took place on 6th September 2025, as part of the White Night programme of the Contemporary Culture Forum and was supported by the Riga City Council.
